Glendale cafe, Charlestown vape store lead fresh Hunter exposure sites

HUNTER Sports Centre, an Islington hotel and a Charlestown vape store are among the fresh exposure sites named in Newcastle and the region's deepening COVID outbreak.

Hunter New England Health had added Glendale's Boho Black Cafe and Charlestown's Super Vape Store to its close contact list.

The eatery's exposure window was between 9am and 9.30am on Tuesday August 3, the health service said, while the vape store's was between 3pm and 3.30pm on Thursday August 5.

Anyone who attended during those periods must get tested and isolate for 14 days, awaiting further advice from NSW Health.

Hunter New England Health also added several sites to its casual contact list, but indicated some people at those sites may be informed by health authorities they were close contacts.

Casual contacts must get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.

The exposure sites include Hunter Sports Centre Glendale during the Schools Zone Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 3 August from 9.45am - 12.30pm, and Terry White Chemist in Cardiff on Tuesday 3 August from 10.44am - 10.50am.

Times have also been amended for the previously-announced exposure at Broadmeadow's Newcastle Basketball Stadium. That window now spans from 8.15pm to 9.30pm on August 3 "following further investigation".

Patrons at the Newcastle Hotel at Islington on Sunday August 1 between 9.45pm and 11.30pm are close contacts, as are those who attended Mad Mex Fresh Mexican at Cameron Park on Thursday 5 August from 12.50pm - 1pm.

The Grumpy Baker in The Junction had an exposure window on Tuesday 3 August from 12.26pm - 12.28pm, while Hunter Strata Management, Maitland was a concern between Thursday 5 August from 8.30am - 5pm and on Monday 9 August from 9.20am - 11.30am.

The Newcastle Herald reported on Wednesday that the NSW Health Belmont Mass Vaccination Centre also had an exposure on Thursday 5 August from 11am - 11.45am.
