Glenda Gilson reveals why Dancing with the Stars put her off dancing

Glenda Gilson admitted Dancing with the Stars put her off dancing for good - saying it proved that she wasn’t made for the ballroom.

The TV presenter was the second celebrity eliminated from the 2020 series on RTE, and previously told how taking part in the show made her feel “vulnerable”.

And whilst she said she enjoyed her time learning to move on the hit series, she admitted she has no plans to keep on dancing in her own time.

“Not a chance. No, no no. Not even with drink involved,” she told Irish Daily Mirror.

“I am not a dancer. I said it even before I went in there, it didn’t improve my dancing skills. If anything, it proved to me that I couldn’t dance so I left it alone.

“Listen, I enjoyed it, but it was tough. And I admire anyone who could dance, it is such an amazing thing to do. And I love watching people dance.. But unfortunately these legs don’t have much rhythm.”

After being called off last year due to the pandemic, fans are still waiting to hear whether the dance show will return to the national broadcaster this season, and Glenda said she’d be sorry to see it go for good.

“That was a great production and a great show to work on, and I think everyone really enjoys that on a Sunday night, sitting down to that.

“So I would miss it if it wasn’t on TV, but I’d say it will come back.”

And the celebrity reporter, who is often seen rubbing shoulders with stars on the red carpet from home and away, said she’d be the first to recommend the experience to her well known friends.

“It’s such a good opportunity, why wouldn’t you take it on.

“And it is fun, as well as the nerves. It is full on.”

The former Xpose star is currently on maternity leave after welcoming her second son, Danny Mac, with her husband Rob MacNaughton, last October.

Arriving one day before her first born son, Bobby’s second birthday, the star said the new arrival took some getting used to for their toddler.

But almost a year on, she said her new arrival is in awe of his big brother Bob.

“He’s[Bobby’s] used to him now. At the start he was kind of like ‘this is my turf, who are you’ but he is great with him now.

“Danny is Bobby’s biggest fan, he just adores him and watches him all day long. And this little guy is dying to walk, and dying to get up on things and I think it is as a result of watching Bobby all the time.”

Glenda Gilson was speaking to announce Iceland Ireland as the first Irish grocery retailer to partner with UberEats.

Over 2,000 food products, including fresh groceries, vegetables and Iceland’s popular frozen foods including exclusive ranges such as TGI Friday’s, Slimming World and more, will be available for delivery from the supermarket retailer via Uber Eats.

To celebrate the launch of Iceland being the first grocer in Ireland to partner with Uber Eats, customers ordering between Monday 13th September until Thursday 30th September will receive free delivery on their first order. The offer provides even more convenience, with orders delivered to doorsteps across the country in less than 30 minutes.

Customers can shop in the same way as they would when ordering from a restaurant via the Uber Eats app. Once confirmed, the order is picked out in-store by Iceland colleagues before being collected and delivered by an Uber Eats courier.

Ron Metcalfe, Managing Director, Iceland Ireland said: “We are delighted to be the first Irish grocery retailer to partner with Uber Eats, offering our customers all the convenience of a rapid delivery service across over 2000 of our products.

"In addition to our incredible frozen ranges, shoppers are often surprised at the variety of fresh, grocery and Irish products available in store. We are sure that our latest partnership will prove very popular with our customers, as their favourite Iceland products can now be conveniently delivered right to their doors.”
