Glenda Gilson reveals she could have stayed on maternity leave instead of rushing back for axed Ireland's Got Talent

Glenda Gilson has said that she could have stayed on maternity leave inside of rushing back to work for Ireland’s Got Talent after the show was axed last month.

The stunning Virgin Media presenter returned to the talent show just three weeks after giving birth to baby Bobby last October because she was nervous that she would be replaced.

However, show bosses confirmed that it would not returning for a third series next year, RSVP Live reports.

She said: “If I hadn’t done it, someone else would have got it [the job as presenter]”

“But now it is sadly not returning, so I could have stayed on my maternity leave [laughs].”

Glenda explained to Muireann O’Connell and Ray Foley on The Six O’Clock Show: “We had only done one year of it [Ireland’s Got Mór Talent], so they asked me back to do it.

“I went back after three weeks [since giving birth] and it was like we never left.

“It is a good show to work on because it doesn’t feel like work.

“My mom and my husband were there and the producers were brilliant, they let me dip in and out. It was all good.”

Glenda’s Ireland’s Got Mór Talent co-presenter James Kavanagh said that he was devastated to hear the news because he loved working on the show. “It is so sad. I hope that it will come back again in the future, maybe?

“I am devastated because it was so much fun working with Glenda and the team.”

Speaking at the launch of The International Ladies Polo Day in aid of The Julian Benson Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, James said that he and Glenda are still very close since filming ended.

He exclusively told RSVP Live: “I am always swinging off her on nights out.

“I haven’t seen her ages now though. She was supposed to come to my birthday, but she burned me and didn’t come.

“I think she extended her holiday. I messaged her twice making sure she could come and text me that day saying that she was still away.

“She has promised me a night out when she is back.”

Since its inception just under a year ago, The Julian Benson Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made tremendous progress towards its goal of building a home-from-home for people with Cystic Fibrosis. This week also sees the launch of their Text-to-Donate Campaign, where people can text “BUILD” to 50300 to donate towards the project and follow progress using “#build4cf”.
