Glenda Gilson gushes about 'powerful' Maura Higgins on Love Island

Glenda Gilson has told how Love Island’s Maura Higgins is “powerful” and how a lucrative TV presenting gig is on the cards for the Longford stunner.

The Virgin Media One star added that watching the lovers canoodle on the island has turned her into a teen again.

Glenda, 38, told the Irish Mirror: “I love Maura on it, I’m enjoying her.

“I think people didn’t like her when she first came on but they like her now as she’s being totally honest.”

The Xpose star moved from the modelling world into TV stardom over a decade ago and feels Maura is on the crest of a wave and can do the same.

She said: “Of course she can move into presenting, she’s gorgeous looking and she has a great personality and she’ll have more confidence when she gets out of there.”

The Dublin presenter admitted she applauds Maura for going on the show but she would never have braved it if approached back in the day.

She added: “Watching the show turns me into a teenager when I see them slobbering all over each other.

“I don’t think anyone can watch that, I still get embarrassed, it’s gas.

“I don’t know how they do it but fair play them, they’re young and beautiful and having the craic.

“But no, I don’t think I could ever have taken that one on.”

The mum-of-one returns to Xpose this autumn after a year on maternity leave.

She’s been busy promoting her summer jewellery range G by Glenda which is online and available at Terminal 2 in Dublin Airport.

The stunner is enjoying her first holiday in Marbella with baby Bobby and her businessman husband Rob McNaughton.

She said: “I’m in Marbella, it’s Bobby’s first holiday, he’s loving every bit of it and he’s sleeping like a baby.”

Glenda was on hand to launch Cycle for Hope, raisingfunds for a new resource and education centre for children with special needs in Kolkata on September 7.

At 9am on September 7, over 200 cyclists are set to get on their bikes as they make their way along the coastal route from the Butlers Chocolates Visitor Centre, Clonshaugh to Louth and back.

Cyclists can choose from two route options, the traditional 145km route or 85km route.

Glenda said: “I’m delighted to be involved - after having a baby I decided to head back to Paul Byrne’s gymand now I’m putting my fitness to work by getting involved with Cycle For Hope.

“The children that we are reaching out to in Kolkata live in horrendous conditions and have the added hardship of a disability.

“So I’m happy to raise some much needed funds to bring a bit of comfort and help to their lives.”
