Glencairn boss Willie Harvey looks forward to end of football 'limbo' with West of Scotland League debut dates revealed

Glencairn boss Willie Harvey admits he can’t wait for the return of football with the West of Scotland League Premier Division set to kick-off by October.

Following crunch talks between the Lowland League, WOSFL, and the SFA last week the plan for tier five and below currently is to restart training in August.

Games are then scheduled to return from either September 26 or October 3.

Harvey is delighted to have something to work towards and to be able get his side back training.

“A date is really what he have been looking for,” said the gaffer.

“We have been in limbo for a few months now but now we are in a position to plan.

“We can get the boys in and give them a chance to adjust to each other; this is pretty much a whole new team from last season.

“There is only so much team bonding that can happen on Zoom so we are looking forward to getting back on the training pitch, in the dressing room, and having a matchday again.

“We believe we have got the right blend of players and we’ll find that out once we are back.”

With a sqaud of 21 players ahead of a 20-team top flight season, Harvey doesn’t expect to add any more new faces before the season starts.

He added: “I’m happy with the squad and where we are just now.

“We had all our recruitment targets planned before now and there is only one player that we didn’t get, so we are happy with the state of our affairs.

“I would certainly not expect to be adding any more.”
