A PROLIFIC Monklands author is on the write track after publishing her latest crime thriller despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
Acclaimed Glenboig writer Terry H Watson has penned the third instalment in her cosy crime trilogy, A Letter for Julie, amid the restrictions of lockdown.
Now retired special needs teacher Terry is excitedly awaiting the verdict from her loyal Monklands fan base on the finale of her compelling crime caper, which was released by Glasgow-based independent publishers Indieauthorsworld.com.
The novella concludes the tales of the Miss Marple-esque protagonist and amateur sleuth Julie Sinclair, who first came to light in A Case for Julie and its follow-up A Break for Julie.
Terry told the Advertiser: “The new book is called A Letter for Julie and it’s the last one in the trilogy.
“It is about a character that has been in the background of all my other books. She is a writer and lives in a fictional village in Fife; and like all writers she is very inquisitive.
“Things happen in the village and she turns into a Miss Marple-type of character. She was a minor character and one of my readers suggested she would like to know more about her, so she has become a main character in her own right.”
The literary talent, who has written 10 books since her critically acclaimed debut novel Call Mama hit bookshelves back in 2016, now plans to take a well-earned break from writing.
Terry explained: “During the first lockdown I managed to finish off two books. The previous one was Our Nipper.
“But with this new lockdown I have lost my mojo, and I am having a little break from writing. That’s 10 books I have written now, so I am due a break.”
However, Terry continues to connect with her loyal fans in Monklands and beyond on social media; and by hosting virtual book events on Zoom.
She explained: “I have got a good fan base in Glenboig, and I let people know about my books through Facebook. I’m very grateful to the people of Monklands for supporting me throughout lockdown. They have been very encouraging.
“I did a recent book launch on Zoom with mostly locals, but there were also some people from America who were on and knew about my books.
“I have missed out on gala days and craft fayres where I would normally sell my books, but that has all been lost due to lockdown.”
