Glenavon confirm two players leaving on loan

Glenavon have confirmed that midfielder Robbie Norton and goalkeeper Marc Matthews have left Mourneview Park to join other clubs on loan.

Norton is thought highly of at Glenavon and manager Gary Hamilton clearly wants him to return to play his part for the Lurgan Blues in the future.

The midfielder has joined up with Championship side Annagh United.

Speaking to the club website Gary Hamilton said: “Robbie has gone out on loan to Annagh. He’s going to get regular first team football after being out a year with a cruciate.

“With him not getting much game time last year, he hasn’t played much football in two years, so he needs to get regular football week in week out.

“Hopefully this benefits Robbie and Glenavon in the long run.”

The 23-year-old's most recent spell away from Lurgan was a loan move to Warrenpoint in 2018.

Young shot stopper Marc Matthews has linked up with Dundela in the Championship.

Hamilton says his move is with "the aim of getting first team experience to further his development."

He joins something of a new era at Dundela as Colin Nixon has boosted his side with signings such as Kyle Owens, Tony Kane and Michael Smith.
