Glenavon announce signing of new goalkeeper

Glenavon have announced the signing of goalkeeper Declan Brown.

Brown took part in Saturday morning’s first pre-season training session with the Lurgan Blues.

The 37-year-old shot-stopper was most recently with Queen's University and has also had spells with Donegal Celtic ad Carrick Rangers.

He will provide competition for James Taylor who has signed for another year.

"Declan is a goalkeeper I have known for a long time," Gary Hamilton told the club's YouTube channel.

"He was with Donegal Celtic way back when I was still playing and he was back at Queen's the past eight years now. We have watched him quite a bit.

"It has been a tough time getting a goalkeeper in but we have one in now.

"We needed another goalkeeper to compete for the number one spot, and we need competition for every position.

"If you want to be a successful team you need that."

He added: "That's us done for now, but if something else comes up then we will look at it."
