Glen Road Heights housing development expected to finish by September 2022 after delays

A West Belfast housing development is set for completion in 2022, it's been revealed.

The Glen Road Heights development has been "blighted by issues from the get-go" according to a local councillor.

It is expected that 92 homes will be developed, with 23 completed so far.

Sinn Féin councillor Arder Carson said: "Excellent to hear that a new contractor has been appointed by Choice Housing and Radius Housing to complete the homes under construction at the Glen Road site.

"The site has been blighted with issues from the get-go so it’s welcome news that these much-needed homes are at last being completed."

He added: "We're hoping that they can get people into the homes as quick as humanly possible."

A spokesperson for Choice Housing told Belfast Live: "A total of 23 homes have been completed thus far, but with a new contractor appointed, Choice Housing expects a further 18 units to be handed over in February. Seventeen units are expected to be completed by April 2022, followed by 16 more homes in May. A final 18 units are due for completion in September 2022."
