The Running Man star Glen Powell has shared some intel about his friendship with Australian icon Margot Robbie and her extreme love for messy AF reality TV show, Love Island.
In a mammoth tea spill to PEDESTRIAN.TV during his press tour for his action-packed, yet timely flick The Running Man, Powell revealed that the Barbie superstar is a major Love Island fiend.
You see, The Running Man — based on the 1982 Stephen King novel of the same name — follows Ben Richards (Powell), who joins a reality TV show to cop some “new dollars” to help his sick daughter. But unfortunately, the gist of the deadly show is that he must survive 30 days without getting killed by a bunch of hitmen or ratted out by the public.
While Powell says he didn’t watch any reality TV to prepare for the movie, he did reveal that his driver to and from set, Maurice, would feed him live updates of Love Island.
“When we were shooting this, my driver, Maurice — who is the greatest — he would watch Love Island nonstop,” Powell dished.
“I didn’t have a lot of time on my hands, obviously, I’m in every scene of this movie, but Maurice would give me Love Island updates. So I would get second-hand reality updates from Maurice.”
Powell went on to add that Robbie was a bigger fan of the show, recounting that she had a Love Island theme for her 31st Birthday bash back in 2021.
“I think the only bigger Love Island fan is Margot Robbie,” Powell exclaimed.
“Margot Robbie had a Love Island-themed birthday party. She’s a very big Love Island fan.”
During her press tour for the (in my eyes) iconic Suicide Squad, Robbie opened up about her love for the unscripted reality TV show, telling People that it’s “a big part of my life”, elaborating that it’s the relationship and friendship dynamics that have her hooked.
“If I had to pick a favourite season, I’d say season three,” she told the publication in the 2021 interview.
“If I had to pick favourite contestants of all time, I’d probably say Liv [Olivia Attwood] from season three, and Maura [Higgins] from season five,” Robbie dished.
“It’s so good. Liv coined ‘dicksand,’ and Maura coined ‘fanny flutters,’ so, between the two of them, iconic,” Robbie continued.
“I mean, honestly, if you start, I will not stop talking about Love Island. There’s so much I have to say about it.”
In July of the same year, Robbie went on to celebrate her 31st with a Love Island-themed party, as Powell mentioned.
In a group snap, reshared by fan account @margotrobbie_best, the Neighbours star is pictured with her besties in bright bikinis with a geotag to Casa Amor.
Honestly, I would pay a ri-donk-ulous amount of cash to see Robbie or Powell drop in the villa as bombshells!!!
