Glen Kamara STAYS at Rangers as Nice change of heart sparks Ibrox recruitment ripple effect

Midfielder Glen Kamara has remained a Rangers player despite interest from OSG Nice in a deadline day swoop.

The Rangers midfielder trained with Giovanni van Bronckhorst ’s squad earlier today amid interest from the Ligue 1 club. The Finland international has been linked with a number of potential suitors over the summer but the Scottish Cup winners had been keen to hold on to the former Dundee man, signed for £50,000 under Steven Gerrard in 2019.

Reports in France suggested that the player’s agents reportedly travelled to the Allianz Riviera in an attempt to thrash out a deadline day deal with Nice willing to go up to £10million to seal a move for Kamara. However, Lucien Favre's side reportedly had a change of heart and looked to use the cash earmarked for the midfielder to beat Leeds United to a deal for Marseille ace Bamba Dieng. In the end, Nice failed to get a deal for the forward over the line .

Van Bronckhorst will be delighted to keep Kamara on the books at Ibrox. But Belgian transfer guru Sacha Tavolieri states that had a knock-on effect on recruiting Nicolas Raskin.

It is claimed sporting director Ross Wilson had lined up the Standard Liege midfielder as a replacement, with a four-year deal on the table. That deal was only to be firmed up of Kamara left the club.
