Glen Kamara set for new Rangers deal as ‘suitable bid’ understanding leads to breakthrough

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara is set to sign a new contract with the club, according to a report.

The Finland star has two years left on his deal but Steven Gerrard has been looking to tie him down on an extended contract for a while.

And now it looks like they've finally made a breakthrough in talks with Kamara set to sign on at Ibrox on a long term contract.

The Athletic report the midfielder has agreed to sign his deal with an understanding that Rangers will do business to sell him if a 'suitable' bid comes in for him.

Kamara has been heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League and his future had been in doubt but it looks like he'll be staying in Glasgow for a while longer.

It's great news for Rangers and Gerrard if they can get the deal over the line with Kamara a vital player both domestically and in European competition.

He still has two games left to serve on his ban for his reaction to being racially abused by Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela last season.

The 25-year-old missed the 2-1 defeat to Malmo and will miss the second leg too, as well as the first leg of either a Champions League clash with Olympiacos or Ludogrets or the Europa League if they drop down.
