Glen Kamara's Rangers lawyer Aamer Anwar claims Ondrej Kudela UEFA ban 'does little to instil confidence'

Rangers star Glen Kamara's lawyer has let rip at UEFA in a strongly-worded statement after disciplinary proceedings were opened against Ondrej Kudela and his client on Tuesday.

Aamer Anwar claims the defence put forward by racism accused defender by Slavia so far "can only be described as incredible or fantasy."

The Ibrox midfielder accused Kudela of calling him a "f****** monkey" at the end of last month's Europa League clash at Ibrox.

Kamara and his Rangers team-mates, including witness Bongani Zungu, were left incensed in the aftermath before the Czech league winners accused the 24-year-old of assaulting Kudela after the match.

The Slavia star is facing potential 10-game ban if found guilty of racism and the Rangers star has also been left sweating over a five-game charge under section 15.

Kudela has been handed a provisional one-match suspension but he was already set to miss Thursday's Europa League quarter-final first leg at Arsenal.

And Anwar could barely hide his disdain over the charge as he hit out at UEFA over the double charge.

He said: "Ondrej Kudela has been provisionally suspended for one match, as UEFA begins disciplinary proceedings against him after he was accused of racially abusing Rangers player, Glen Kamara.

"Kudela will not be allowed to play the Europa League match against Arsenal, which also means that Police Scotland will not be able to question him on Thursday with regards to their criminal investigation against him. I understand that Police Scotland have a sufficiency of evidence to proceed with charges against Kudela, without the need to speak to him.

"Whilst UEFA have carried out an initial investigation which makes damning reading about Kudela’s conduct. This initial one match ban does little to instil confidence in UEFA being serious about stamping out racism in football and they must take robust action going forward. The defence put forward by Slavia Prague can only be described as incredible or fantasy.

"A one match ban will make no difference whatsoever to Kudela or Slavia Prague, who were already claiming he was too ill to travel to Arsenal. A one game suspension smacks of ‘tokenism’ and gives little confidence to black players who face such vile abuse. The overwhelming evidence against Kudela means UEFA must take immediate action to punish him robustly for the crime he is accused of."
