Glen Kamara reveals Rangers contract talks as midfielder drops summer hint

Glen Kamara confirmed he’s held talks with Rangers over a new contract.

It comes as the midfielder - who has two years left on his current deal - thanked the football world for its support over last Thursday’s racism storm.

Finland stars came out in solidarity with Kamara by wearing T-shirts emblazoned with the message “I Stand With Glen” ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Bosnia this evening.

Former Celtic striker Teemu Pukki led the Ibrox star’s national team mates in a show of support and demanded UEFA kick racism out of football.

It follows strong backing from across Scottish Football after Kamara accused Slavia Prague player Ondrej Kudela of calling him a “f****** monkey” during Thursday’s Europa League clash at Ibrox.

Kudela was seen whispering in the 25-year-old’s ear in the closing stages of the 2-0 defeat and police have now launched an investigation into the incident.

Kamara has been told by lawyers and Rangers officials not to comment further on the incident.

But speaking at the Finland press conference last night he was keen to stress his thanks for the backing he’s received from the wider football world.

He said: “Support has been great and I am grateful for that. I can not really say any more, but I'm glad that so many have stood by my side.”

Steven Gerrard was the first to back his player in the immediate aftermath of Thursday’s match.

The Gers boss is also keen to tie the £50,000 signing from Dundee down on an extended deal.

And when asked about his contract at Rangers, Kamara added: "There's been some talks. The season's been good, obviously we've just become champions. It's been a success so far.

“I still have two years left on my contract and there's still time over the summer to see what will happen."
