Glen Kamara reveals 'every day' racial abuse as Rangers star opens up on Ondrej Kudela incident

Rangers star Glen Kamara has opened up on the racist abuse he received against Slavia Prague and revealed he is being tormented by it every day.

The Ibrox midfielder was subjected to the sickening abuse during the 2-0 defeat in the Europa League last month and admits he felt 'humiliated' after the incident.

And he revealed that he gets vile racial abuse on social media every day and doesn't know if things will ever improve in his life time.

The 25-year-old was targeted by Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela during the game at Ibrox last month, with the Czech Republic international calling Kamara a 'f***ing monkey'.

Kamara immediately reacted in anger and admits he would walk off if he could go back in time but he was so confused by the anger and emotions he was feeling.

In an emotional interview with ITV news, he said: “He came over and he said what he said, ‘You’re a f***ing monkey and you know you are’.

“From there I reacted and said ‘He’s racist, he’s racist’. My team-mate heard it. I had a lot of emotions going through my mind. I was angry, upset - I felt humiliated.

"All my family, friends, fans, whoever was watching, I was taken back a lot and I felt like a little boy. It was a really weird feeling."

"If I could go back to the time of the game I'd walk off the pitch, 100 per cent.

“This type of thing shouldn’t be in the game. It’s the every day life thing. I don’t know if in our life we will ever see it change, but if I can make a change in some way I’ll do it.

"The manager was actually trying to get me off the pitch, but like I said I was on my own on the pitch and I couldn't hear anyone. All my emotions were different and I wasn't listening."

The Rangers star has been well supported by his club, his fans and the wider football community, but he's also been charged by UEFA for allegedly assaulting Kudela post-match.

And he showed off some of the horrendous messages he gets sent regularly and when asked how often he received it, he responded: “Every day.”

Kamara and his Rangers team-mates, as well as many clubs in Scottish football, have stopped taking the knee in response to the incident.

And when asked why, he added: “It hasn’t changed anything. We’ve done it for a whole season and towards the end of the season this comes about. It hasn’t changed anything.”
