Glen Kamara or Callum McGregor as Rangers and Celtic stars battle it out for Premiership pass master crown

Who are the pass masters of the Scottish Premiership?

It's fair to say our game isn't always associated with silky stuff on the deck but that doesn't mean there aren't ball players north of the border.

You only have to look at the likes of Ronald de Boer or Lubo Moravcik over the years, or even the likes of Alexei Eremenko or Franck Sauzee outside of Glasgow's big two.

While it's clear there isn't a Xavi or Andrea Pirlo in the Premiership, who is the best passer in the top flight?

Ask a Celtic fan and they'd almost certainly tell you that Callum McGregor can look after a ball like no-one else in the division.

A Rangers supporter, asked the same question, would probably tell you Glen Kamara - possibly while singing Oasis' 'She's Electric'.

And indeed those perceptions are largely correct. In terms of pass completion the pair are the top two in the division - but who takes the coveted number one?

In terms of pure pass completion it's Kamara who leads the way, connecting with 91.3 per cent of his passes this season.

That's very slightly ahead of McGregor who completes an impressive 90.9 per cent of his.

  Glen Kamara Callum McGregor
Average passes 68.3 77.3
Pass completion 91.3% 90.9%
Key passes 1 1.8

However, as we can see from the table above it's the Celtic man who attempts more passes per match.

The Scotland international also achieves more key passes, though Kamara is hardly a slouch in either department.

And of course both teams are helped by being in a side which tends to dominate the ball.

Indeed, there is no player from outside Rangers or Celtic in the top 10 for pass completion.
