Glen Kamara breaks silence on Rangers transfer talk as he makes Steven Gerrard admission

Glen Kamara will not allow talk of a big-money move to England to turn his head from an Ibrox title challenge.

The Rangers midfielder has been linked with a move to a string of Premier League clubs, including former team Arsenal, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Burnley and Aston Villa.

The Finnish international, 24, has been in stunning form since his bargain £50,000 move from Dundee 12 months ago.

Light Blues boss Steven Gerrard insists none of his top-team regulars are for sale in the January window as they bid to wrestle the Premiership crown from the grasp of Celtic.

But his resolve could still be tested before the end of the month and leave the Rangers board with a decision to make from a transfer in which they would make an eye-popping profit.

Kamara said: “The manager hasn’t spoken to me about the speculation at all.

"I’m a Rangers player, so until told otherwise that is my focus. Coming up to Scotland was definitely one of my best decisions.

“I wanted to get game-time under my belt and it has worked out well.

“We are trying to win the title. We are looking forward to that and it is an exciting time to be a Rangers player.

“I also have the Euros coming up as well next summer. That is exciting too.”

Kamara initially agreed a pre-contract deal with Rangers before Gerrard pushed for the cut price deal to give the former Southend kid time to acclimatise.

He grabbed his chance with both hands and is now a mainstay in a midfield that also includes Steven Davis, Ryan Jack, Joe Aribo and Scott Arfield.

Rangers flew back from Dubai earlier on Monday to begin preparations for Friday night’s Scottish Cup tie at home to Stranraer.

Kamara said: “It was a good training camp overall. Tough but good.

“This time last year I was in Qatar for a training camp with Finland and had to come back because things were progressing with Rangers.

“It has been an interesting 12 months since and it was good to return to that part of the world as a Rangers player.”
