Glen Johnson enticed by Celtic as former England star weighs up coming out of retirement

Former England star Glen Johnson has said he would come out of retirement to play for Celtic .

The ex-Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham right back announced his retirement in January after he was released by Stoke last summer.

Speaking to Jim White on talkSPORT this morning, the 34-year-old revealed a move to the east end of Glasgow would appeal.

Celtic are about to embark on a major transition after Saturday's Scottish Cup Final against Hearts, where they're bidding to land an unprecedented triple Treble.

Right back has proven to be a troublesome area for the Hoops recently.

Stalwart Mikael Lustig has been linked with a return to his homeland with Malmo said to have placed a huge offer on the table for the Swede.

Cristian Gamboa, meanwhile, is heading for the exit after failing to impress in his three years at the club, and Jeremy Toljan 's loan spell will end with his likely return to Borussia Dortmund.

Anthony Ralston has shown promise but Celtic will need reinforcements ahead of the Champions League qualifiers.

Johnson, who picked up 54 caps for his country, said he'd be keen on a move to Glasgow if Celtic came calling.

When asked on talkSPORT whether a move to Celtic would appeal, Johnson said: “Yeah,” he said. “I’d get my boots on, no drama.”

The classy right back had been linked with a move to Parkhead before, but any prospect of joining would have gone out the window when he slaughtered his former boss Brendan Rodgers over his infamous 'three letters' psychological ploy.
