Former Tottenham player and manager Glenn Hoddle believes Son Heung-Min is more than worthy of his Ballon d’Or nomination.
The Spurs forward is one of 30 players to be named on the shortlist for this year’s gong by France Football, which was released on Monday night.
Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk are the three leading contenders for this year’s prize, with Son's team-mate Hugo Lloris also joining the South Korea international on the shortlist.
And Hoddle believes Son, who scored twice in Spurs’ win over Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League on Tuesday night, is already looking like a more confident player as a result of the nomination for the top individual award in world football.
"Well I think the nomination yes, over the year he has been excellent," the White Hart Lane icon told BT Sport during Spurs' win.
"I don't think he will win it, but he looks like he has got a lot of confidence from being one of the nominees.
"He's gone out there and said 'hang on a minute, people really do believe in me'.
"He had a tough couple of first seasons here at Tottenham, but once he's settled down he had really shown his true abilities."
