Glen Hansard receives Paul McCartney autograph months after tribute concert

Glen Hansard has shared a heartfelt note written by Paul McCartney commending his performance in a tribute concert.

The Ballymun native was one of several artists who performed in a Carnegie Hall concert in New York, dedicated to the famous Beatle. Paul was unable to attend the event back in March but shared his appreciation with Glen in a recent note.

The autograph was shared by Glen on Instagram. The singer was delighted by the gesture, adding that he wished his mother was still alive to see it.

Paul McCartney wrote on the autograph: "It was a fantastic honour for me to have such an event at such a venue with everyone singing my songs. The feedback I have had from it has been amazing and I wanted you to know I was honoured you took part."

Glen sang the hit tune 'We Can Work it Out,' in Carnegie Hall, accompanied by his brother and trad musician Breandan Begley. He told his Instagram followers the trio raised a glass to John, Paul, George and Ringo after their performance.

People took to the comments section to congratulate Glen on the prized possession. Many fans were quick to praise Glen's own talent underneath the post.

One person wrote: "From one great musician to another great musician."

Another added: "Somewhere in heaven the spirit of a Dubliner who once met the Beatles in the Adelphi is bursting with pride."
