A total of 158 new homes are to be built in Scunthorpe after Sheffield builder Gleeson Homes was granted planning permission for its Phoenix Meadows development.
A five year construction window has been outlined, with work to begin next month on the 19.7 acre plot.
It describes the provision as high quality, low cost, with two, three and four bedroom semi-detached and detached homes starting from £125,000.

Wayne Sutton, operations director at Gleeson, also behind the town’s 85-home Roman Court development, said: “We are delighted to be bringing 158 fantastic new homes to Scunthorpe, an area where we are seeing great success with homes.
“We are pleased to be championing the area, supporting the community with our affordable homes and employing a workforce on site that will be made up of local labour and contractors. Our Section 106 donations will help fund school places and improvements to education in the area and we will be protecting local wildlife and boosting ecology with our plans. With our homes, we are determined to ensure that the housing market better serves young first-time buyers and families on low to average incomes.”
A £1.1 million contribution will be made, with landscaping buffers, open space and a children’s play area.
Show homes are anticipated by spring next year, with first residents by the autumn.
Gleeson Homes is part of MJ Gleeson Plc, with a stated ambition to build 2,000 homes a year by next year.
Customers tend to be first time or young family buyers.
