Glee's Matthew Morrison breaks silence on ex Lea Michele's racism row

Glee's Matthew Morrison has spoken out for the first time about his former co-star Lea Michele's racism row.

The 41-year-old actor starred as Will Schuester alongside Lea, who played Rachel Berry on the popular US show.

Over the last few weeks, some of Lea's former co-stars have accused her of racist behaviour and bullying behaviour on set.

Speaking on FUBAR radio about the allegations, Matthew told radio hosts Joanna Chimonides and Stephen Leng that there were bigger issues at play.

"I honestly think it’s a distraction of the bigger issues that are going on right now. It’s kind of like, ah," he said.

Matthew continued: "You want to be a good, pleasant person to be around. That’s about all I’m going to say on that."

Matthew and Lea - who briefly dated before appearing on Glee - starred alongside each other in the hit musical series between the years 2009 to 2015.

The heavily pregnant lead actress has recently come under fire following a string of claims about racial discrimination, and various forms of unprovoked aggression and bullying.

There have been a number of accusations from Glee co-stars Samantha Ware, Imia Edwards, Heather Morris, Amber Riley and Monica Moskatow over Lea's vile on-set behaviour.

Other performers that worked with the actress on earlier productions also said they experienced bullying.

Since the allegations came to light, Lea is said to have faced a 'wake-up call'.
