Glaswegians urged to order repeat prescriptions ahead of COP26 disruption

Glaswegians are being urged to order their repeat prescriptions ahead of COP26 at the end of the month.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde have advised that people in the Glasgow City area could face disruption to medical supplies.

Road closures and the potential for travel disruption will mean residents will have to 'plan ahead' when accessing health services, including allowing sufficient time to order and collect repeat prescriptions.

The health board has been working with GP practices and pharmacies in the area closest to the SEC in Glasgow – alongside event organisers – to ensure they can continue delivering services to communities.

This has included providing advice and support with regard to security and transport restrictions and working to resolve any issues that may arise.

Dr Linda de Caestecker, Director of Public Health at NHSGGC said: “COP26 is one of the biggest events that Scotland has ever hosted and with it comes significant disruption, particularly around roads and travel.

"We have worked incredibly hard with our colleagues in primary care, particularly in areas closed to the SEC, to minimise any potential disruption from the travel and security impacts of the event.

“We would ask anyone accessing healthcare to plan ahead, especially if you have repeat prescriptions or other essential medication.

“Please make sure you order your repeat prescriptions and only the essential medication you need well in advance.”
