Glaswegians belt out Flower of Scotland from flat windows in NHS tribute

Residents in Anderston paid a heartwarming tribute to the NHS by singing Flower of Scotland from their open windows.

The community in Little Street came together for the stirring rendition on Saturday night in a bid to lift the gloom of social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak.

Linn Sutherland teamed up with her neighbour Lesley Shennan to lead the open-window singalong.

She tells Glasgow Live: “We wanted to show our huge respect and thanks to the NHS and frontline staff and keep the spirits of our neighbours up.

“There are loads of elderly people who love to see people having fun, they need to know we as a community are here for them during this difficult time.”

Similar scenes have been captured across Italy and cities such as Madrid, Paris and Amsterdam as people stuck at home come to their windows and balconies to sing into the night.
