Glasvegas gig at Irvine's HAC sold out in record-breaking four minutes

A surprise Irvine date for platinum-selling indie rockers, Glasvegas sold out in just four minutes.

Craig McAllister, of music promoters Freckfest, told the Irvine Herald the super swoop for tickets earlier this morning smashed previous records.

He said: "The Glasvegas show sold out in just four minutes - a Freckfest record.

"It's yet another in a long line of sold out Freckfest gigs and shows the appetite for live music in Irvine.

"If only we had a bigger venue that could accommodate everyone who wants to come to our shows.

"With a bigger venue, who knows who we could bring to the town?"

Glasvegas, who are one of the most successful Scottish musical exports in recent times, will play Irvine’s Harbour Arts Centre on Thursday, December 12.

Freckfest's Craig told us: “Brothers James and Rab Allan will eschew the band’s normally ear-splitting Shangri-Las meets Jesus And Mary Chain sound for the night and present tracks from across all three Glasvegas albums in a stripped-back, but no less intense, acoustic style.”

Glasvegas are no strangers to Ayrshire, having played sold-out shows in both Kilmarnock’s Grand Hall and Troon Concert Hall in recent years.
