Glastonbury superfans recreate festival in garden with sound stages and wristbands

Two Glastonbury superfans have recreated the epic festival in their garden - complete with sound stages, homemade signs and wristbands.

Russ Gillard created the home festival, named Glasthomebury, with his wife, Katie, both 37, after the real event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

They had music and even a cider bar in their home in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

One of the main acts was their six-year-old son, Noah, who played hits on his ukulele.

Katie said: "We had weekend tickets for 2020 and, like everyone else, were really looking forward to it.

"We had followed the Glasthomebury event on social media and saw what amazing creations people were coming up with and decided to make one of our own.

"We have a little circus tent, a miniature version of the ribbon tower and the paddling pool was our Glastonbury-on-sea.

"Our son Noah made us festival tickets which doubled up as home schooling."

Katie and Russ have attended the real Glastonbury Festival many times since their first visit in 1997.

Katie says that her festival highlight from over the years was when Paul McCartney headlined the Pyramid Stage in 2004, while for Russ it was Tom Jones in 2009.

Russ and Katie, who work for Foray Motor Group and Screwfix respectively, are already setting their sights on Glastonbury 2021.

Katie said: "It's just a magical place to be, there is so much to see and do and the atmosphere is incredible - we are definitely planning on going in 2021.

"There is so much Glastonbury coverage on the TV and radio this weekend for everyone to enjoy and the Glastohomebury events going on are really amazing."
