Glastonbury headliner Billie Eilish admits she had no idea festival was a 'big deal'

She said she was a “little uncultured baby” when she last performed at Glastonbury, admitting she had no idea the festival was a “big deal”...

Now Bond theme singer Billie Eilish will become its youngest ever headliner, when she closes the Pyramid stage on the Friday evening next June.

Festival boss Emily Eavis said yesterday: “We couldn’t be happier to announce that the wondrous Billie Eilish is headlining the Pyramid on the Friday at next year’s Glastonbury Festival, becoming the youngest solo headliner in our history. This feels like the perfect way for us to return and I cannot wait!”

The festival was cancelled last year when it would have been celebrating its 50th anniversary with headliners Sir Paul McCartney , Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar .

Plans for an event this summer were also shelved.

Billie, 19, posed in a Glastonbury hoodie to announce the appearance, before bosses confirmed the signing in a statement which also confirmed the gig will be Billie’s first ever UK festival headline performance.

No Time To Die singer Billie previously admitted she felt “embarrassed” to not have realised Glastonbury was a “big deal” when she performed at the festival previously.

“I am a little uncultured baby,” she said.

“It was such an honour, I mean, come on. Dude, the crowd was unbelievable. Those mosh pits?

“Oh my God. The crowd was great.”

A welcome return for Worthy Farm.
