Glastonbury Festival weather: Heat health warning issued as Glastonbury set for highs of 30C

Friday could be one of the hottest days ever experienced at Glastonbury Festival as temperatures soar to a sweltering 30C.

On Thursdays revellers were forced to strip off as Worthy Farm saw the mercury climb to 28C.

But forecasters have warned today (June 28) could be even hotter as the country bakes in a blistering heatwave.

The hottest day recorded at the festival was in 2017 when temperatures reached a scorching  31C.

Campers face muggy conditions tonight, with temperatures not likely to drop below 13C

Things should cool down by Sunday when temperatures are expected to fall to a cooler 20C.

The NHS has issued a level two heat health alert for the South West.

It reads: "Very warm or hot conditions are expected in the west of the country over the next few days, with these warmer conditions moving eastwards into the weekend.

"Cooler conditions are then expected from Sunday onwards. Trigger criteria are most likely to be met in southern areas between Friday and Saturday.

"Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially for the very young or very old or those with chronic disease.

"Advice on how to reduce the risk either for yourself or somebody you know can be obtained from NHS Choices, NHS 111 or from your local chemist."
