Glastonbury Festival's gross toilets – which cause people to pee in cups

One thing any festival-goers has to prepare themselves for is the disgusting public toilets.

With a population of around 200,000 people, it’s almost inevitable that you’re going to come across some unsightly encounters across the five days.

By Thursday evening, people were already holding their noses and gagging as they scurried past one of the 30 blocks of lavatories.

One Glastonbury festival goer, who shared an unsightly snap with the Mirror, told us: “It’s disgusting, people know we have to use the toilets for the next few days and they’re already a mess!”

There are three versions of loos on the site – blocks of green metal stalls with walls, a door and not much else but a raised hole in the ground. The white seats, which are hardly the most inviting things to sit on, meaning most are taking the option to hover.

There is no flush, tissue or hand sanitiser – but a few have a separate, outdoor hand washing station nearby – meaning bringing your own resources are key!

Some areas also offer urinals, with nothing much apart from gates with blue plastic sheeting for privacy.

The final option are rows of lavatories which have steps to walk up into the cubicles. These are popular spots as they offer a bit more comfort so the queues are long so you need to know well in advance if you need to go!

During performances some festival-goers resort to using paper cups to offload in, something you will become accustom to seeing throughout the event.

However, if you think you’re going to bump into a star in the line for a number one you will be disappointed. The hospitality areas offer much more luxurious lavatories for the stars, complete with a working flush, hand sanitiser dispensers and loo roll.

Cleaners are on hand to regular check the facilities, which are also equipped with red and green changing lights to indicate if they are free to use. How the other half live!
