Glastonbury Festival: Plans for camping and concert at Worthy Farm this summer

Music-lovers across the world have mourned the postponement of Glastonbury Festival for two consecutive years.

But a glimmer of hope has been raised by Emily Eavis that a mini-event at Worthy Farm could still go ahead, depsite the main bash being pulled.

Emily posted on her Instagram account this evening (March 19) that organisers have applied for permission to host a family-friendly - not for partying - campsite.

Plans for a 'concert' have been submitted, with Emily saying: 'It's good to dream'.

The post says: "For those asking for an update on our plans later this year, we have put an application in for a licence for a concert at the farm in September (around the time we'd usually do Pilton Party).

"Of course, we've no idea yet whether we'll able to do that, but we wanted to get the application in to be in with a chance. Unlikely we'll have any news for a couple of months - but will let you know right here when we do.

"We're also putting an application in for a family-friendly (ie not for partying!) campsite at the farm for this summer. Again, it's not definite that it'll go ahead but needed to set the early wheels in motion now.

"It’s so good to dream up plans and hope that some of these things could potentially happen later this year."

Glastonbury 2020 would have marked 50 years since Michael Eavis hosted the first ever festival, and organisers had huge celebrations in store to mark the milestone.

It's hoped when the full event does return next year, some of the world's most popular musicians will grace the Pyramid Stage for the occasion.
