Glastonbury Festival 2019: The Spice Girls could be performing after all

It looks like The Spice Girls could be playing at Glastonbury 2019 after all.

After announcing their reunion tour back in November 2018, which will see them perform together for the first time in two decades, many tipped them to perform at Worthy Farm this year.

But fans of the iconic girl group were left disappointed when the lineup poster was released without their name on.

It looks like there could still be a chance of them performing this year, however, after an interview between Zoe Ball and Emma Bunton this morning.

In an interview with the presenter on her 6.30am breakfast show, the Spice Girls star revealed that the band have been invited to perform.

Bunton joked: "We have been asked – we’re going to see how this tour goes first!"

Spice Girls' Melanie C announced to perform at Bristol Pride Festival 2019

We have a strong feeling they will accept the invitation, meaning they will join other major pop acts on the lineup including Miley Cyrus and Sigrid.

The response to the tweet shared by BBC Radio 2's Twitter page has been fairly negative.

Chris G simply wrote "No ta!" while Ian Howarth said "It's my first Glasto, please don't spoil it."

However there will no doubt be plenty of ticket-holders who will be delighted at the prospect of seeing the band at the Somerset spectacular.
