Glastonbury Festival 2019: Stormzy pays emotional tribute to Cadet and fans love it

Stormzy has paid an emotional tribute to rapper Cadet during his headline set at Glastonbury Festival.

The Croydon-born Grime star became the first black British solo artist to headline the music festival in its 49-year history and the 25-year-old admitted that he was "overwhelmed with emotions," as he created history.

While this was a big moment for the Grime artist, telling the crowd "Glasto, it's only the f***ing beginning," he still took time to call out the artists that have inspired him and his contemporaries.

During this roll call, he gave the thousands gathered at Worthy Farm to watch his set the feels, along with those watching at home on BBC2, as he mentioned rapper Cadet, with the big screens paying tribute to him.

The 28-year-old was killed in a car crash in February, as he travelled to a gig at Keele University.

Cadet, real name Blaine Cameron Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene, while his taxi driver and three other passengers were treated in hospital and have since been released.

His memory was honoured by Stormzy and it was a moment that wasn't lost on those watching, who took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One fan tweeted: "Seeing that rest in peace cadet pic gave me goosebumps man # glastonburyfestival2019 # Stormzy # RIPCadet"

A third wrote: "Im so glad he paid tribute to Cadet as well. What a guy @ stormzy # glastonburyfestival2019"
