Glastonbury Festival 2019: New venue has been revealed and it sounds wonderfully wacky

In just over a month, nearly 200,000 people will descend on Worthy Farm for the return of Glastonbury Festival.

It's safe to say excitement for the event is reaching fever-pitch, especially after last year's hiatus, and we now know who will be performing at many of the festival's most popular areas.

Yesterday, the lineup for what is arguably the creepiest area on Worthy Farm - The Unfairground - was revealed and it came with news of a brand new stage making its debut for 2019.

For those unaware of The Unfairground, it's a mind-altering zone next door to Shangri-la filled with some pretty unnerving art installations and performers, along with a top notch lineup of DJs.

The area repurposes both ideas and salvaged material to highlight the unethical cycle of consumerism, wastefulness and the unfairness in society, presenting "collisions of big top music venues, warped fairground side shows and iconic sculptural madness," according to Glastonbury Festival's website.

It is home to three music stages - The Flying Bus, Salon Carousel and the brand new Blind Tiger.

Each stage will host some top acts including Bristol legend DJ Die, drum and bass stalwart S.P.Y, revered house duo Dusky, hip hop artist Dr Syntax and party starters Gentleman's Dub Club, to name just a few.

Alongside the music there will also be a number of eye-catching art installations to take in as well as sideshows and performers.

But perhaps the most exciting part of the Unfairground announcement is news of The Blind Tiger, which sounds like it's going to be pretty wacky.

About The Blind Tiger

According to Glastonbury's website: "Hidden inside Elvis’s mouth you’ll find the all new Blind Tiger, a streamlined speakeasy styled beautifully in “Dystopian Deco”, with a roaring ‘20’s design and futuristic, slightly sinister, edge.

"With a music programme from midday to the early hours, it’s a safe haven to drink, date and dance."

Judging by that, it's definitely going to be another new addition to the festival well worth exploring this year, along with other new features including the giant Victorian pier and the revamped Block9.
