Three years in the making, the re-imagined space - created by creative duo Gideon Berger and Stephen Gallagher who specialise in ground breaking set design - will now cover two fields, Block9 East and Block9 West.
The brand new stages will see a range of incredible artists perform, including Larry Heard, Tony Humphries, Josh Wink, and The Black Madonna.
The space will also showcase the first appearance of IICON, Block9's latest creation. Appearing in the form of an enormous, anonymised head, the immersive surround sound arena is described as an 'immense sculptural artwork' and 'pseudo-religious monument to the terrifying new realities emerging in our digital, post-truth age'.
IICON will provide a platform for the music of tomorrow, providing a space for underground talent such as Okzharp & Manthe Ribane, Moor Mother, Larry Heard Live feat Fatima & Paul Cut, Laurel Halo, Kode9, and The Zenker Brothers.
Following its debut at Glastonbury, IICON will embark on a global tour as a part-gig, part-club, part-art installation, part-theatre experience.
Block9 West will host the ever-popular venue The NYC Downlow - a multi-roomed temporary club space housed inside a life size film set replica of a seedy New York bathhouse-come-meatpacking warehouse circa 1982.
With a dedicated Janet Jackson night, fetish night, and performances from a resident drag troupe to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riot, the LGBTQ+ focused space is billed to be one of the most exciting alternative areas of the festival.
Block9 West will also become home to Genosys, the place to be for fans of analogue electronic music with artists such as Anthony Parasole and HAAi on the lineup.
