Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition: How to secure a place on the 2020 festival line-up

Ever dreamt of one day playing live at Glastonbury? This is your chance to do exactly that.

Each year, the famed festival runs an Emerging Talent Competition, which aims to seek out a new, under-the-radar act and have them perform on one of the main stages at Worthy Farm.

The competition — which has previously counted Flohio, Izzy Bizu and Declan McKenna among its finalists — is open to acts of any genre based within the UK and Ireland.

To enter, artists need to provide a Soundcloud link to one of their original songs along with a video of them performing live — “even if it’s only recorded in a bedroom,” organisers add.

The competition is free-to-enter and open for one week only, starting at 9am on Monday January 27 and closing at 5pm on Monday February 3.

After that, the entries will be whittled down to a longlist of 90 by a team of UK music writers. Those hopefuls will then be judged by a panel — including Glastonbury organisers Michael and Emily Eavis — and narrowed a shortlist of eight. The winner will be crowned at a live final in April.

Winners will secure a slot on the 2020 line-up, as well as a £5,000 prize from the PRS Foundation. Two runners-up will each receive £2,500.

In each of the previous five years, all eight finalists have been offered performance slots at Glastonbury.
