A huge outdoor screen is being installed at First Street in Manchester ahead of this year's Wimbledon tournament, with plans in place to screen other key entertainment events this summer.
The screen will appear in the public square outside the culture and dining hotspot, with deckchairs laid out for visitors to make use of.
Ice cream makers Ginger's Comfort Emporium - famed for flavours including 'Chorlton Crack' (salted caramel and peanut butter) - will also be rocking up in their ice cream van.
It's not yet been confirmed if the big screen will show any of the Women's World Cup matches, though the screen will be in situ on the day of the final on Sunday July 7.
Last year, First Street scrapped plans to screen the Men's World Cup after deciding the sporting event was ' not in keeping ' with the family- and arts-focused area.
Sporting and entertainment events that have been confirmed for the big screen include Glastonbury Festival, the Cricket World Cup highlights, Tour de France, and the F1 British Grand Prix.
Wimbledon, which will take place between July 1 and 14, will act as the anchor event in the estate's wider summer programme.
HOME, the culture complex that's part of the First Street estate, will host a David Lynch takeover as part of Manchester International Festival.
The iconic filmmaker, the man behind Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, will be taking residency at HOME to show films, live talks, music, and his first ever UK exhibition of his drawings, paintings and scultpure.
800 VIPs are expected to attend the invite-only launch on July 5.
Always a popular area with families, there will also be garden games such as giant Jenga in the square.
Free yoga classes and HIIT fitness sessions will take place across the estate.
Sophie Stephenson from CBRE, who manages the estate on behalf of First Street Management Company, said: “We’re looking forward to kicking off the summer season with Wimbledon again, following a great success last year.
“We like First Street to be as inclusive a space as possible, and we love putting Wimbledon on each year as we feel it works for families, our occupiers, local residents and crowds of all ages – it’s always a great atmosphere and caters to everyone.”
The First Street big screen will be in place between June 27 and July 27.
