Glastonbury 2020: Chris Martin on rumours Coldplay could headline next year's festival

Chris Martin has addressed speculation Coldplay may perform at Glastonbury next year.

Discussing the 50th anniversary of the festival on an Australian radio show, the frontman ruled the band out of appearing on the line-up, Thefestivals.uk reports .

He told the hosts: “We won’t be playing at Glastonbury 50, although I’ll probably be there because I love going.

"It’s like our home from home, but we won’t be playing."

When asked which artists he would like to see headlining, Chris said: “I don’t know, the great thing about Glastonbury is it’s always a bit unpredictable… and that is a great thing.”

There’s been a lot of speculation over who will be playing at the festival in 2020, but only a handful of artists have been confirmed so far.

Music icon Diana Ross was confirmed as the Sunday legends slot last month while Michael Eavis confirmed in August London-based band Wolf Alice would be performing.

Recent odds from Betway also put Taylor Swift and Paul McCartney as favourites to perform this year.

Responding to such rumours earlier this year, the former Beatle said it may be time to return to Glastonbury .

He told The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show: "People are saying that it will be good if I did it, so I'm starting to think about whether I can or whether it would be a good thing.

"We played there quite a long time ago so maybe it is time to go back. I don't know. I'd have to put a few things in place.

"It's starting to become some remote kind of possibility. It's definitely not fixed yet but people are starting to talk about it."

Former One Direction star Harry Styles has also reportedly been asked to perform .
