Glastonbury 2019: The adorable moment an 'inseparable' couple became engaged at Pyramid Stage

An "inseparable" couple who met at Glastonbury two years ago have described the moment they became engaged next to the Pyramid Stage.

Steven Maydew got down on one knee and proposed to Helen Morgan at the iconic stage earlier today (June 27).

The pair met at the festival in 2017 after Steven sat down at Helen's table due to a bad back.

Since that fateful encounter, the couple have moved in together in Mansfield and have had a four-month-old daughter called Jesse.

Describing the moment he met his future fiancée at the festival, Steven, 39, said: "I had a bad back and I was walking around looking for somewhere to sit.

"I approached Helen's table and we got talking. Soon we were spending more and more time together.

"There's not a more special place for us than Glastonbury."

Helen added: "I had gone to Glastonbury for a girl's weekend but we became inseparable from then really."

The 43-year-old said Steven was acting a "bit strange" as he prepared to pop the question.

"He was acting a bit strange. He was very quiet which was unusual for him," she said.

Steven added: "I had the ring in a little bag and I had to take it out in the long drops - luckily I didn't drop it.

"I was a little bit nervous but I ask her to marry me every day as a joke anyway."

Steven said there was a "massive round of applause" from people sat nearby when he got down on one knee.

"I didn't feel like there was many people around when I did it," he said.

"I feel awesome, I can relax now."

Helen added: "I feel amazing, I'm really looking forward to the wedding."
