Glastonbury 2019: Legendary funk and soul DJ Craig Charles self-confirms appearance

The dust has now settled on the release of the first Glastonbury lineup poster and plenty of people have had their say on it.

But while the inaugural lineup announcement always draws plenty of attention, it is by no means a definitive list of all the acts who will be playing at Worthy Farm in June.

The poster contains approximately 70 acts who will be gracing the many stages, but in total there will be hundreds of performers playing across the weekend.

The odd thing spotted in the Glastonbury 2019 lineup poster

Many of those will be announced by the festival organisers nearer the time of the spectacular while a handful of acts will self confirm their appearance before then.

The latest to do so is Craig Charles, the funk and soul specialist who has a weekly weekend show on BBC Radio 6 Music.

On Saturday afternoon, he informed his listeners he will be playing on Friday night, after reading out a text from someone explaining how he met his wife Jane at Glastonbury 2008.

After the listener proclaimed this is the first time him and his wife haven't managed to buy tickets in years, Craig replied: "Ah you're missing out on Glastonbury?

Glastonbury 2019 headliners The Killers are playing a show in Cardiff Castle this summer

"Ah man you're gonna miss me on the Friday, one o'clock at Shangri-La, ripping it up."

The clip can be heard at 1:48 into his show on the BBC Sounds player.

Alongside his DJing, Craig is also known for playing Dave Lister in sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf and has also been seen and heard as a performer or presenter on a range of programmes such as Through The Keyhole, The Bill, Radio 4's Kaleidoscope and of course Robot Wars.
