A man is in a "life-threatening" condition after catching fire and suffering significant burns at Glastonbury Festival.
South Western Ambulance Service spokeswoman Melanie Glanville confirmed a man in his 20s was yesterday airlifted from the site at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.
Ms Glanville said the man suffered "significant burns" and was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, which has a specialist burns unit.
She told The Bristol Post: "This would suggest his burns were life-threatening. It does seem he has suffered very serious injuries."
The Great Western Air Ambulance and crews from across the West Country were called to the site at 5.09pm after reports that a man was "on fire".
The man was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where there is a specialist burns unit. He is said to be in a critical condition.
It is not yet known how the incident happened.
Final preparations are taking place for the festival which opens its doors to the public on Wednesday.
Glastonbury Festival organisers could not be contacted for comment.
