Glass roof of Broadmarsh entrance will be coming down within days

The glass canopy roof will be removed from the intu Broadmarsh entrance next week.

Work is expected to take place in Middle Pavement between 7pm on Monday, September 30, and 7am on Tuesday, October 1 as the transformation of the shopping centre continues.

Meanwhile, additional  work is taking place this week, when the Collin Street bus lane will be closed overnight.

The lane, nearest to the shopping centre, will be shut from 8pm on Thursday, September 26, through to 6am on Friday, September 27.

Nigel Wheatley, centre director for intu Broadmarsh, said: “This brief overnight closure has come at the request of our contractors to allow the safe installation of equipment needed to continue the exciting regeneration of intu Broadmarsh.”

The £89m project to revamp the facility is expected to deliver a cinema and Hollywood Bowl as well as high street and independent retailers.
