Glass. Bluebeard. Kill. Imp. at the Royal Court: First look at four new Caryl Churchill plays

The first pictures for four new plays by Caryl Churchill have been released.

Glass. Kill. Bluebeard. Imp. will open at the Royal Court Theatre tomorrow night, marking the world premiere of the new works.

The plays are directed by Churchill’s frequent collaborator James Macdonald, who directed Churchill’s last new play at the Court, Escaped Alone, in 2016.

Toby Jones, Deborah Findlay, Sule Rimi, Tom Mothersdale and Rebekah Murrell are among the cast, with Evening Standard Theatre Award winner Miriam Buether designing the set.

Vicky Featherstone told the Standard that Churchill’s agent had rung her up to tell her about the new plays out of the blue earlier this year.

Describing the plays individually as “an extraordinary burst of a really incredible idea,” Featherstone said that the theatre had “moved heaven and earth” to fit them into the 2019 season.
