Glasgow woman who cycled to Istanbul on bike has it stolen in Cessnock

A Glasgow woman who has cycled on her bike to Istanbul from the city has launched a desperate appeal for its return - after it was stolen from her flat in Cessnock.

Kimia White has taken to social media for help in trying to find the bike -  a Specialized Sequoia, steel frame, carbon fork, mint green bike with white handlebar tape, white ism saddle and mudguards.

It was stolen on Tuesday of this week from inside her tenement block on the top floor landing outside the door to her flat near to Cessnock Subway station in the G51 area.

Kimia tweeted: "I cycled with this bike from my doorstep in Glasgow (where it was stolen) to Istanbul through more than 13 countries.

"I bikepacked with it the whole length of Portugal and Spain. With it I cycled most part of Scottish Highlands and Islands many times over. Pls help me find it."

Bicycle theft in Glasgow seems to have grown dramatically since lockdown began, with thieves taking to stealing bikes outside hospitals across the city as owners work inside.
