Glasgow woman left 'lying on the ground in the rain' after being attacked and mugged

Police enquiries are underway after a woman was attacked and mugged in Glasgow and left "lying on the ground in the rain".

The shocking incident is reported to have taken place on Saracen Street in the Possil area around 4:40pm on Tuesday, November 30.

Officers were called to the street following a report of an assault on a 58-year-old woman.

Community group No1Seems2care shared an eyewitness account of the incident, which noted that the lady was mugged and assaulted at a cashpoint on the street and "left lying on the ground in the rain" after suffering a head injury during the attack.

Members of the public are said to have come to her assistance and the eyewitness covered her in a blanket she got from a nearby shop until police arrived.

It is unknown if the woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police say that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 4.40pm on Tuesday, 30 November, officers were called to the Saracen Street area of Glasgow following a report of the assault of a 58-year-old woman.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
