A Glasgow woman has come up with possibly the best way to help celebrate her husband's 60th amid the ongoing lockdown - by building a bar in their flat.
Eddie Scott got the idea to build the bar to stave off the disappointment felt by herself and friends and family at being unable to throw a party for husband Ken's special day while the pubs and restaurants remains shut.
Inspired by DIY pages online and places like Hutchesons Bar in the Merchant City, Eddie got all the bar materials from major discount stores around Glasgow to build the bar - despite having never done any DIY before.
And since the bar 'opened' its doors at their Shawlands flat, Eddie has been rightly treating herself to some Mojitos and White Russians after putting in all the effort.
Speaking about the bar, Eddie told Glasgow Live: "I was planning my husband’s birthday celebration before Covid-19. Since we were in lockdown, bars & restaurants were shut plus we cannot see any friends or family.
"So I decided to do something for him to celebrate on his special day in May. Also, I don’t know when bars or restaurants would open again, so this is where the idea came from. I have never done any DIY before, but I looked at some DIY group pages on Facebook and decided I could do it.
"The bar is a collection of ideas and inspirations that I have seen online. I particularly like Hutchesons Bar in the Merchant City. I got all the bar materials from major discount stores around Glasgow.
"The best bit of kit that I got was a chargeable drill for only £10. My favourite cocktails since the bar ‘opened’ has been Mojitos & White Russians."
