Glasgow woman beaten with dog lead and hoover scarred for life in terrifying attack

A thug attacked his lover during a horrific ordeal described as "like a war".

John Brewer, 23, turned on Jade O'Neill hitting her with a hoover, dog lead and a mug.

The terrified 24 year-old was left scarred for life following the incident at her home in Possilpark.

Prosecutor Mark Allan told Glasgow Sheriff Court: "What happened lasted for around an hour and was overheard by neighbours, who later described it to police as 'sounding like a war'."

A blood-covered Brewer was found hiding under a child's bed at the flat.

But, he protested: "I've not f*****g done anything. I want to make sure she is alright. She is injured. I love you, Jade."

Brewer was jailed for 18 months after he pled guilty to assaulting Miss O'Neill to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement on July 1 this year.

Sheriff Martin Jones QC also imposed a two year non-harassment order banning him from contacting the victim.
