Glasgow has welcomed two colourful new additions to the city's extensive mural trail in the form of two orangutans that have sprung up over the past few days.
A mural featuring an orangutan has appeared on a wall at Park Lane Market off Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands, alongside a bay orangutan under Ramon Dayo on Ashton Lane in the west end.
The murals are the work of London-based artist Louis Masai, as part of a project to highlight the plight of orangutans in the wild involving International Animal Rescue, Meridian Foods and Dont Cry Wolf Consultancy.
The works have been carried out to bring to light the story of Pongo, a critically endangered orangutan from the rainforests of Borneo that has been chased out of his home by deforestation.
The southside mural features Pongo clutching palm oil seeds while the Ashton Lane mural depicts a baby orangutan clutching a pencil alongside "Stop eating palm oil" written in Gaelic next to it.
As well as the murals in Glasgow, others have been created in Birmingham and Manchester depicting Pongo and his family, who have been left behind fighting for their lives in an area of the world devastated by palm plantations - where palm trees are grown for the manufacturing of palm oil.
We think they make a great addition to the city's mural scene. Go check them out if you can!
