Glasgow weather warning for wind in place until Monday

A Met Office weather warning impacting on Glasgow is set to stay in place until late on Monday morning.

The yellow warning, issued with Storm Dennis having battered the UK in recent days, came into place at 10am today (Sunday).

Forecasters predict wind gusts of over 50mph this evening, while there will be heavy rain throughout the night.

 

The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) have issued a flood alert for the majority of Scotland, covering Glasgow and the surrounding area.

Meanwhile, the Met Office advise of potential travel disruption tomorrow morning.

They say: "Storm Dennis will bring some very strong winds and transport disruption during Sunday and into Monday morning."

What to expect

  • Some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely
  • Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer
  • Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely
  • Some short term loss of power and other services is possible
  • It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves
