Glasgow weather warning for thunderstorms remains in place this week ahead of TRNSMT Festival

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms remains in place for Glasgow this Thursday - just two days before TRNSMT Festival this weekend.

The alert is in place from midday until 9pm on Thursday, July 11, with the majority of Scotland and north of England set to be battered by thunderstorms.

Luckily, the bad weather should be clearing just in time for TRNSMT, meaning that you won't have to worry about spending the weekend in a very waterlogged Glasgow Green.

However, the Met Office has warned that there is a chance of travel delays , flooding and lightning on Thursday - so be sure to take care.

A statement from the Met Office reads: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater and lightning strikes.

"Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost. There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life."

For advice on how to remain safe in a thunderstorm, visit the Met Office website .
