Glasgow weather warning for snow and ice with another wintry weekend forecast

The Met Office have this morning issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice covering Glasgow and much of the surrounding area.

The warning comes into force at 4pm this afternoon and is set to remain in place until 10.30 on Saturday morning with temperatures again expected to fall below freezing overnight.

Forecasters predict the wintry conditions will last into the start of the next week before the city experiences a slight increase in temperatures and rain showers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

As part of the latest weather warning, the Met Office urge caution on roads and untreated walkways.

They say: "Snow and ice may cause travel disruption tonight and early Saturday."

What to expect

  • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths, increasing the likelihood of accidents and injuries.
  • Some roads and railways likely to be affected by snowfall, with longer journey times by car as well as bus and train services
